ASTERONLocal data such as the index, settings and question history lives only on your PC. Please manage your own backups. Everything is in Settings › Backup & Restore.
Automatic backup
Under "Automatic backup", set how often, how many to keep, and whether to compress. The default location is ASTERON KMS\백업 in your user folder. Moving it to another drive or an external disk is safer.
Back up now
Choose under "Back up data":
- Full backup: everything, including the index. No re-indexing after restoring.
- Essential data only: settings, projects and history. Smaller, but you'll need to re-index after restoring.
Then select "Back up now".
Restore
- Select "Restore from backup" › "Choose another file…" and pick a backup.
- Select "Restore".
Your current state is backed up automatically just before restoring, so a wrong restore can be undone. After reinstalling the app, the first screen offers "Previous backup found" › "Restore".
Reset
Choose under "Reset app":
- Reset index only: deletes the index and rebuilds it. Settings and projects stay.
- Full reset: deletes all local data.
A backup is made automatically just before deleting. Either way, your original files are never touched.
If you uninstall
Removing the app from the Microsoft Store leaves the data in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ASTERON\KMS. To remove everything, do a "Full reset" before uninstalling or delete that folder yourself.
